Dear Friends of what is possibly the most lovable breed in the world.

We are honoured and pleased to be able to present our small kennel “A Sense of Pleasure” in the Kent Surrey Sussex Labrador Club Yearbook. We would like to thanks our thanks to committee and members for this honour and your interest in our achievements.

Where do you start when presenting a kennel? Perhaps with ourselves. We are Katrin and Ullrich Korff and we live in the north of Germany.
A former farm house surrounded by fields with a woodland at the back is what we call home. We live very rural and have a strong connection with nature.

We have been breeding Labradors for some 20 years now. At first we only bred dogs for the family. Our kids were small and the house needed a lot of work. Although we did have an interest in showing, time wasn’t always there, and to be honest, our dogs probably also didn’t have the required quality.

In 2004, so about 15 years ago, things changed.
We bought the bitch “Chloe Z Kastanover Aleje” from a small kennel in the Czech Republic. For ease we called her Chloe. Chloe’s father was “Ch. Trendsetter of Tintagel Winds” and her mother came from the Rocheby line. We also bought the bitch “VVest Wind Blowing of Tintagel Winds” which we called Sina. Sina was a daughter of “Sandlands Gad About” and “Oozing What It Takes of Tintagel Winds”, bred by Felicity Leith-Ross. When both dogs moved in we suddenly had dogs with Show Quality.

When we started with those first shows both dogs were immediately successful. Both bitches became German Champion VDH and Luxembourg Champion.
Sina was an excellent show dog but she struggled in breeding. We had 2 small litters delivered by Caesarean and therefor decided to stop breeding with her. However, out of her first litter with the Dog “Ch. Suttonpart Banjamin at Rocheby” we kept a bitch called “A Sense of Pleasure’s Daily News”. She was a wonderful yellow bitch and became our first champion bred by ourselves. Sadly we lost this bitch, and with that her line, from further breeding due to cataract problems. That was a devastating blow for us.

Chloe, the other bitch, was the first bitch who besides showing we also entered in hunt tests. You could say that it’s with her that we really learnt to train dogs. Since then almost every dog in our Kennel has completed the hunting tests, but the shows remained a higher priority for us.
For Chloe’s first litter we mated her with “Ch. Utter Nonsense of Tintagel Winds”. Form this litter we kept Lotte (“A Sense of Pleasure’s Angel of Harlem”). Lotte became our second self-bred champion.

We later kept our Anu (“A Sense of Pleasure’s Forever Young”) from the mating between Lotte and “Thanks a Lot De La Legende De La Loutre”. Anu was a well-built bitch but sadly she had a wavy coat. Because of this we gave her to a family after her first litter. From this litter with our boy “A Sense of Pleasure’s I’m a Joker”, who we will get back to later, we sold the best male to a breeder in Austria. Last year we bought back a bitch from him. With this bitch, called Kim Wilde von der Kaiserleiten – bred by Gudrun and Manuel Mühringer, we brought back our original line. This bitch is currently doing very well at shows and has already been awarded German Champion.

In between, in 2007 to be precise, we bought what was for sure the most important dog for our Kennel, but we should start that story from the beginning. A good friend of ours from Denmark, called Majken Walbohm, had a litter from the wonderful bitch “Ch. Mallorn’s Storm in a Cup” mated with “Ch. Exquisito Demasiado Caliente” (son of the lovely dog “Ch. Lab Treasure’s Dario”). The pups were wonderful and she asked us if we didn’t want to take over a bitch. We declined as we had puppies ourselves at the time and that we wanted to keep one from that litter. The puppy from Majken was then sold to another good friend of ours, also a German breeder. After 5 months at this kennel our friend asked us if we couldn’t take the puppy for an interim period due to personal circumstance.
This is how Coco, officially “Coco Loco’s Tea Cup”, came to our kennel, and in the end not just for an interim period.
As youngster Coco wasn’t a highlight, so to say, but from 1 year old she became better and better and competition she was tough to beat. Coco became Youth Champion and German Champion. Later she also got Luxembourg Champion and International Champion. To have a lovely show dog is already an honour, but Coco was so much more to us. Her bloodlines carried through in an excellent way. Who would have thought that when I am now with my dogs that 9 out of 14 can trace their ancestry back to Coco.
From Coco’s first litter, where she was mated with “Ch. Carpenny Scenario”, owned by our good friend Jan-Willem Verhaag, we kept a black boy. Even as a pup he was something special and we called him Joker, or fully “A Sense of Pleasure’s I’m A Joker”.

Joker was shown even more successful than his mother. We will never forget how he got title World Youth Winner at the World Dogshow Paris 2011, only topped by Best Youngster in Breed. Previously Joker had already won extensively and afterwards a lot more. He became German Champion, Luxembourg Champion and International Champion. In Finland, where he was a guest for a while, he also gained all the points towards Finnish Champion.
Joker also has a strong bloodline and offspring can be found in many countries, and of course with us.

Coco’s last litter was a mating between 2 very similar dogs and line breed “Ch. Raintree Slippery When Wet”. We mated Coco with the American dog “Ch. Time Square Ulysses” and from that litter kept the bitch Page, who to this day is as successful as Joker.

From Page’s second litter with “Clearcreek Bonaventure Windsock” we bred with Otto (“A Sense of Pleasure’s Get Lucky”, who lives with Pam Drugan on the Isle of Man.

After Joker mated with the bitch “Ch. Wenie Malmesbury Sable Blues” in 2012, from the kennen Sarracenia, we got the lovely bitch “Sarah Sarracenia” back from breeders Ana and Jarek Zuk and once again we were lucky. Sarah developed well and was shown successfully. She became German and International Champion. From Sarah we kept the bitch “A Sense of Pleasure’s Valerie”.

In 2011 we were already searching or another bitch, who could bring new blood into our lines, and we with a friend in Finland, Eva Vilamo, where we got the bitch “Waterline’s Selleria”. We simpley called her Selly.
Selly is a daughter of the lovely Follies Maryland, who has been shown very successfully in Finland, and the dog “Waterline’s Le Petit”, a son of “Ch. Athi Aspen of Finnwoods”.
Selly won both in Germany and abroad at the highest levels, and we will never forget the big LKN Clubshow in The Netherlands whwer Selly and our young dog Max BOB and BOS won under Mr. Gary Johnson. This day was also the start of a great friendship with HGary, who remains very dear to us.
From Selly’s second litter we sold the boy “A Sense of Pleasure’s Winne The Pooh” to a breeder in Croatia. “Winnie the Pooh” developed very well and was shown very successfully.

Fir her third litter we mated Selly with our “Ch. A Sense of Pleasure’s I’m A Joker” which produced a good litter, from which the bitch GB Sh Ch. A Sense of Pleasure’s Ylvi is owned by our friend Maxine Woodley.

Based on the excellent results of Selly’s third litter we mated her for her 4th litter with a son of Joker. We chose the very successful dog “Ch Blacksugar Luis”. This litter once again produced 2 lovely great dogs. On the one hand “GB Sh Ch. A Sense of Pleasure’s El Torro”, also owned by the lovely Pam Druggan, and of course on the other hand our own “A Sense of Pleasure’s Elsa”, who we call Elise.
Elise has winning a lot in the past few years, with her greatest success at the WDS2018 in Amsterdam where she got World Youth Winner.

Last year we bought the young male “Sparky Blackrock Siscia” from the Croatian kennel Blackrock. His breeders are Ivica i Amira Blašković.
Sparky is a son of our own bred dog  “A Sense of Pleasure’s Winnie The Pooh”, and the bitch “Capronca Octavia”, also a daughter of our Joker. And so we see both Joker and Selly’s bloodlines united in Sparky’s lineage which had already proven to be very harmonious.
Sparky is a dream to show. He easily became Youth Champion, and later added German Champion, Luxembourg Champion and International Champion. Only yesterday Sparky was BOB at the Winner Show in the Netherlands and with that now also holds the title Dutch Champion.

At present we have 5 youngsters who continue to surprise us. The have already been shown and show great promise. To see how they will develop is a matter of patience.

It is not easy to put together a comprehensive overview of a kennel and its dogs without becoming tedious. We have therefor decided only to mention the most important dogs from our breeding. We have had a few more dogs, and sadly you all know that not every dog you raise is in full health. Likewise not all our dogs are beautiful or passes on the lineage well. Good breeding remains dependent on selection and we too live with those concequences.

This leaves us to conclude that we have really had a wonderful time, and that we’ve been very fortunate to have had so many great dogs. We’ve done many tests and won many shows. It is a particular honour that several of our dogs were shown in the native country of this wonderful breed, England.
The example of our Coco is a perfect example though that to get a good start as breeder we also need a healthy dose of luck to start us of.
But far more than luck we are of the opinion that you need great friends to enrich your life and experience because breeding is always a team effort.

We would like to take the opportunity in this way also to thank all those that have contributed to and supported our success and with whom we’ve had so much fun.

We would like to wish everyone a lot of fun with their Labradors and lots of success, be it in breeding, showing or working.
